We are once again delighted to welcome Gloucester Rugby into our school as part of an exciting rugby development programme for our year 7 girls.
The sessions are being delivered by the Gloucester Rugby team and have been extremely positive. The girls have shown great enthusiasm, teamwork and progress and have been a pleasure to work with throughout the programme.
The Gloucester Rugby visit follows a structured six-week programme designed to introduce pupils to rugby in a fun, safe and progressive way.
Pupils are introduced to the basic rules of rugby, safe participation, communication and the importance of teamwork.
Developing core-ball handling skills and attack and gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of T1 rugby.
Learning how to support teammates in attack an gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of T1 rugby.
Exploring simple attacking patterns, defensive positioning and teamwork within game situations.
The session introduced kicking techniques and safe effective catching, students practised these skills in a supportive environment, building confidence and control.
In the final week, students took part in full T1 rugby gameplay, applying all skills and strategies learned throughout the programme, this provides an opportunity to showcase teamwork. Resilience, and enjoyment of the game.
Overall, the programme offered valuable opportunities for students to develop physical skills, confidence, and teamwork. The partnership with Gloucester Rugy has been a fantastic experience, and we look forward to working with them again.
